Connecting a custom domain to Pitch allows you to use your own domain when sharing external links or pitch rooms, providing a truly branded experience.

Setting up a custom domain in Pitch requires a few steps, so allow us to walk you through an example with this video tutorial. There are spoken instructions, so remember to turn your volume on! You can also use the closed captions on the tutorial, or follow along with the transcript provided.

Click on your workspace menu and enter your workspace settings. Choose “Connect a custom domain”.

You will be prompted to enter a domain you own, which must include a subdomain. A subdomain is a distinct site under your existing domain. For example, our domain here is spacework.click. We need a subdomain to use for all our pitch rooms and links, so we’ll add the subdomain “pitch”. This means what I enter here is pitch.spacework.click.

When you enter your custom domain (with the subdomain), you will be given the information to create the records with your DNS provider. You will need to create two records. The information for the first record can be found in the first row of the provided chart, and the information for the second record is in the second row.

In this example, the DNS provider is Amazon Web Services. While the steps for most majors providers are similar, it’s best to review their support materials before proceeding. We’ve linked to the resources for several major providers in this article.

The first record we will create is the CNAME one in the top row of this chart. I’m going over to my domain provider, and creating a new record. Copy the name in the first column, which should be the same as your subdomain. In this case, mine says “pitch”. Under the record name, we’re going to paste in the subdomain. Choose the type of record from your provider’s drop down list. For this first record, this will be CNAME. Then, copy the Value in the third row of the first column, and paste it in the Value field.

We’re then going to create the second record, this time using the information from the second row. Use the name provided in the first column, and then choose TXT as the record type for this one. Under value, paste in the value provided in the second column of the third row.

We should now have 2 records created, for both of the options here in your workspace settings. Once you've added these into your DNS provider, click on verify domain. This may take a few minutes, but you should see that it says active for all external links.

If DNS verification fails, please return to your DNS provider and ensure that you've entered in the correct information when creating the records. If you're still unable to get the domains verified, Please contact Pitch support.

Custom domain instructions from major providers

Each DNS provider has slightly different instructions and a different user interface for creating records. We've linked to the instructions for several major providers below. Generally, you'll be looking to create a record with Name, Type, and Value provided in your Pitch workspace settings.
